In this diploma program, will prepare students to gain knowledge of SOC processes, procedures, technologies, and workflows. Gain a basic understanding and in-depth knowledge of security threats, attacks, vulnerabilities, attacker’s behaviors, cyber kill chain.

 

Program Description

This program is powered by CompTIA and will provide information to build a solid foundation for the Security+ Certificate. Students will learn to anticipate information security risks, apply new technologies to secure networks, and prevent cyberattacks of various kinds. Students will develop the technical skills needed to pursue cybersecurity work through lab operations and cutting tools.

Postgraduate Certificate in Security Operations Analyst with Co-op

This program is designed for individuals keen to begin their career as a Security Operations Analyst with Co-op, this diploma will set you on the right path. Develop your IT skills to enter this dynamic and opportunity-filled sector.

 

Program Courses:

Security Operations Center and Assets Management (80 Hours)

This course will introduce students to the underlying concepts of information security and an organization's assets. Students will uncover the standard operations and administration of enterprise computer systems and the information available in these systems. Students will then apply these core concepts in the regular security operations center and draw a framework suitable for security awareness training in public and private settings.

Cybersecurity Tools, Attacks, and Methodologies (80 Hours)

This course will introduce students to the basic concepts related to cybersecurity. Students will be able to understand the history of cybersecurity, types of cyber-attacks, and motives behind these cyber-attacks.  Students will understand the current cybersecurity issues in the 21st century

Cybersecurity Logging, Events, and Incidents (80 Hours)

This course will introduce students to the different cybersecurity incidents and logging criteria. Students will understand these critical cybersecurity events' entire monitoring and documentation process. This course will further help analyze the internal and external information and how to share this information with management.

Incident Detection with SIEM Solutions (80 Hours)

This course will help students build their knowledge on how incidents occur and how to manage them with a SIEM tool. Students will learn the incident detection and security investigation with Splunk and explore Splunk's features from a SOC Analyst's point of view. This course will help explore the Splunk tool and get guidance to build professional documentation for the information gathered using this tool.

Advanced Incident Detection using Threat Intelligence (80 Hours)

This course will help students understand what is behind a cybersecurity attack and the techniques used to implement the attack. Students will further explore the threat landscape and find out the location from where the threat has been launched. This course will pen down the eight phases of threat intelligence.

Cybersecurity Incident Response Techniques (80 Hours)

This course will help students understand how cybersecurity incidents are responded to locally, nationally, and globally. Students will realize this through hands-on labs and projects with the support of experienced security professionals. This course will further explore application security and email security incidents.

SIEM Capstone Project (80 Hours)

This course will teach students how to use Splunk's searching and reporting commands and the product's interactive Pivot tool to produce reports and dashboards. Students will be able to create total searches, reports, and charts using scenario-based examples and hands-on tasks.

Cybersecurity Employment Preparation (40 Hours)

This course will teach students how to score an interview for a career in cybersecurity, one of the most exciting and rapidly growing industries in technology. Students will learn what to do before, during, and after an interview to improve their chances of landing the cybersecurity job they've applied for.

Students must be in possession of one of the English Language Equivalencies in the list below.

Language proficiency requirements are admission requirements and may not be waived by either the institution or the student.

Admission Requirements:

  • Good command of English language IELTS 6.0 or equivalent outlined below
  • Students are required to have and use their own personal computer in class
  • Post-secondary diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science from an approved government institution of applicant's home country, or applicant has a minimum of 2 years of work experience within a field of information technology


The following are accepted:

  • English Grade 12 (from a high school program in Canadian, US, UK, or other English-speaking country)
  • Communications Grade 12 (from a high school program in Canadian, US, UK, or other English-speaking country)
  • Successful completion of CCTB EAP (English for Academic Purposes) Level 4
  • IB (International Baccalaureate) English A1/A2 (HL or SL)
  • IELTS: (International English Language Testing System) Band 6.0 or higher
  • TOEFL iBT: (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 60 or higher
  • TOEFL Paper: (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 530 or higher
  • PTE A: (Pearson Test of English) Score of 46 or higher
  • CEFR: B2 or higher
  • Cambridge: PET (FCE B2 First - grade `B) or higher
  • Duolingo: score of 105 or higher
  • LanguageCert (LC IESOL): B2 Communicator (33-38) or higher
  • GCAS Interview: Level 5 or higher
  • Successful completion of a Designated ESL school program with level equivalent to tests outlined in section 1 above OR from an established pathway partner of CCTB
  • Applicants may choose to complete the TLGC Online Pre-Arrival Test and receive customized language study plan based on the applicant’s test results if a passing grade is not achieved
  • Applicants that are not in possession of one of the credentials above, are advised to enroll in The Language Gallery Canada (TLGC) UPP (University Pathway Program). Successful completion of TLGC UPP level 4.5 is recognized by CCTB in lieu of the aforementioned assessments
